WHAT IS ASTIGMATISM?

Astigmatism is a common refractive error in the eye in which the corneal surface is not equally round in all directions. It is usually associated with myopia or hyperopia. Patients with astigmatism have distorted (deformed, double, broken) and blurred vision.

Most often, this refractive error is congenital and inherited, but it can also be caused by injury, disease or eye surgery. Astigmatism causes difficulties in reading and distinguishing numbers, eye strain and headaches are also an unpleasant symptom.

HOW TO GET RID OF ASTIGMATISM
Astigmatism can be corrected with cylindrical diopter spectacles or contact lenses. Astigmatism can be corrected together with the dioptre necessary for the correction of the basic error, i.e. myopia or hyperopia, but usually cannot be completely corrected due to their poorer tolerability in spectacles (especially in the case of higher and asymmetric astigmatism). The type of surgery depends on the degree and type of astigmatism as well as the anatomical possibilities of the corneas. The exact method for correcting this eye disorder is determined by the doctor after a thorough examination.

The most suitable method for a life without astigmatism is laser eye surgery. The most common method we use for the correction of astigmatism is the laser method for correcting the irregular curvature of the corneal surface.

The surgery is painless and takes place under local anaesthesia,
Provides fast recovery,
The risk of postoperative complications is very low,
It takes about 30 minutes
Good vision a few hours after surgery.

FOR WHOM THE SURGERY IS SUITABLE
In order to have laser astigmatism surgery, you must be at least 18 years old and have stabilised eye defect for at least one year.
