What is Smart Lens, What Does It Do?
The only effective solution developed against the age-related nearsightedness problem that occurs especially after the age of 40 is multifocal intraocular lenses. These lenses, popularly known as “smart lenses”, are implanted into the eye instead of the individual’s own natural lens. After this operation, the need to wear near and far glasses for a lifetime is eliminated and the risk of cataract formation is reduced.
With the development of multifocal (multifocal) lens technology, patients around the world have the opportunity to have better and better quality near vision after cataract surgery. For this reason, which lens is suitable for which patient (2-focal or 3-focal) is determined after a detailed examination.

How is Smart Lens (intraocular lens) treatment performed?
This operation is usually applied to two eyes two days apart. The patient does not feel any pain or ache during the application, which takes about 10 minutes for each eye. The eye is cleaned and anaesthetised with special medicines and fluids. During the treatment, the patient’s natural lens, which is old, has lost its elasticity or has cataracts, is removed and a new lens is placed in its place. At the check-up the day after the treatment, the person can return to his/her daily life and start social activities.

Who is Smart Lens Suitable for?
This treatment is applied to individuals aged 40 and over who have distance and near vision problems. If the eye structure is suitable for people between the ages of 18-40, laser treatment can be recommended to get rid of glasses.”
